·
In the face of a global challenge where 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water, the impact of climate change
is intensely felt in Afghanistan, especially for its children.
·
Record droughts have compelled tens of thousands of families to leave
their homes in chase of clean water for basic needs. Nearly two-thirds of the
population, including children, are now affected by drought, causing
starvation, water-borne diseases, and poverty, as noted by UNICEF.
·
Communities in certain areas of Afghanistan traditionally depend on river
water, but access to clean water has become increasingly rare. Dropping river
levels, coupled with rising temperatures and pollution, are worsening the water
crisis, making it both less safe and rarer.
·
The consequences are particularly terrible for children, who are more
vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Underfeeding rates are rising, and
outbreaks of water-borne diseases are disrupting education and essential
services.
· To address this critical issue, Naseer Welfare Foundation has collaborated with generous donors to provide clean water wells for families lacking access to clean water, with a focus on constructing water wells in Masjids to be benefited for both families and Masjid.
Therefore, we have constructed 115 water wells in various provinces and
districts, investing a total of 138000 USD. Our commitment to alleviating the
water crisis continues as we extend waterwheel projects to different areas in
Afghanistan.
